A Highland man has been arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicle manslaughter when his vehicle crashed into another vehicle that was parked on the side of the road.

Russell Hanson, 32, was driving a 2007 GMC Yukon when he slammed into a 1994 Lincoln Town Car, killing a 77-year-old backseat passenger and critically injuring the other passengers. According to the Redlands Daily Facts, the crash was so severe that officers had to use a tow truck to pull the vehicles apart and firefighters had to cut out the window and part of the roof to remove the injured passengers.

Barstow California Highway Patrol Officer Justin McGrory was struck and killed by 18 year old Rafael Garcia over the weekend. Garcia is charged with felony vehicular manslaughter and child endangerment due to having a 12 year old passenger.
