Super Bowl Weekend - California DUI Checkpoints

If you plan on partying to celebrate the Super Bowl, assign a designated driver or hail a taxi as there will be plenty of DUI checkpoints all throughout the weekend.

Starting Friday evening and going through Sunday, police officers in multiple cities will be checking for motorists who show signs of intoxication and may require them to perform DUI field sobriety tests.

Jan. 28 - Jan. 30 DUI Checkpoints in California

Beginning tonight, police officers will be conducting driver's license and sobriety checkpoints in multiple cities in California.

Throughout the entire weekend, officers will be looking for signs of intoxication and will be conducting field sobriety tests to those who appear to be under the influence of alcohol and or drugs.

The list provided below will inform you of the times and cities of a few scheduled DUI checkpoints. For your safety please do not drink and drive. If you are arrested during a DUI checkpoint, contact your California DUI Defense Lawyer immediately.

9 Year Old Killed, Mother Arrested for DUI

A Temecula mother caused a DUI related fatal accident and has been arrested on three counts of DUI causing injury and suspicion of murder.

Karen Honeycutt, 41, was driving with her three children when she struck a tree and utility pole in a center divider around 3pm on Thursday. According to the Press-Enterprise, two out of three of Honeycutt's children were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle killing the 9 year old daughter and breaking the 17 year old's back. Honeycutt's 8 year old son was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident and suffered moderate injuries.

Former police chief charged with Riverside DUI

Russell Leach, former Riverside police chief was charged with drunk driving on February 8, after crashing his city-owned Chrysler into a fire hydrant. Leach, 62, was leaving a club when Riverside police officers stopped him nearly three miles from the crash site. His front two tires were completely missing according to reports. The California Highway Patrol announced that Leach was not only under the influence of alcohol, having 11 drinks before the crash, but also under the influence of prescription drugs.
